The Hollywood Christmas Parade is a fascinating annual event along the Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Hollywood and Vine Street, CA, Hollywood. It was created by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to boost shopping.This annual tradition started in 1928 attracts over a million people and is the best opportunity to see the Hollywood celebrities on street. The parade consists of more than a dozen marching bands, glitzy floats, cartoon characters, equestrian units and Santa Claus riding a 62 foot long float.
The long parade takes place along a U shaped route that includes Hollywood Boulevard, Vine Street, and Sunset Boulevard. The starting point of the parade is approximately in front of the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and then it goes to the east side of Hollywood Boulevard and reaches Vine Street. After turning right of Vine Street it reaches Sunset Boulevard. From there it marches to Orange and ends up in front of Hollywood High School.
The 79th Hollywood Christmas Parade took place on November 28th 2010 at 6.pm.The parade was broadcast on local stations in December 2010 throughout the country. The Grand Marshal of the parade was the legendary broadcaster Larry King. Other celebrities included Harry Hamlin, Lisa Rinna, Dick Van Dyke, Louis Gossett Jr., Jason Earles and many others.
The reserved grandstand seats are available for a fee. The reserved seats should be occupied at least one hour before the start of the parade. Because of the large crowd those without reserved grandstand seats should come at least three hour before the start of the parade to occupy themselves comfortably. The parade lasts for two hours and therefore early arrival is important to avoid traffic jams and rush in the streets.
Discounted parking facility is available at Hollywood & Highland parking structure provided there is validation with a purchase from the centre. Other paid parking lots are also available along the main streets of Hollywood Boulevard, Vine Street and Sunset Boulevard. The public can reach there from Hollywood (101) Freeway and through Santa Monica Boulevard exit. The parade routes will be closed for traffic till the end of the parade. To avoid traffic and parking problems taking the subway routes at the Hollywood & Highland Hollywood & Vine is a fine option.
