Hollywood Sign Hollywood Sign

The Hollywood sign constructed in the year 1923 is situated in the Hollywood hills area of Mount Lee in Loss Angeles. It consists of giant letters that spell the name of the area constructed in steel after the renovation in 1978.Originally wood and sheet metals were used to construct the words “Hollywoodland.”The sign was initially created as an advertisement sign for real estate but the last four letters were removed in 1945 when Hollywood emerged as the movie capital.

The length of the sign is 450 feet and each letter is 45 feet high. The Hollywood Sign is located on a hill side and hence there is no easy way to reach there. It can be viewed from many locations in Hollywood like Hollywood & Highland Center, Griffith Park Observatory, Franklin Avenue, Mulholland Drive and Beachwood Canyon Drive.

The sign is a frequent target for vandalism but now a security system has been installed to detect any threats. The sign usually appears in film and television programs that are shot in and around Hollywood.
